Why does the value of my dingMoney change in local currency?
When you send or receive dingMoney, the USD amount is fixed, it does not change throughout the sending or receiving process.
However, the local currency amount (MXN, GTQ, etc.) can vary because it depends on the market exchange rate at the time the credit is used. Exchange rates naturally move up and down, which means the value in the local currency may be higher or lower later on.
You always know exactly how much you’ve sent or received in USD, while the local currency follows real market exchange rates without any markup.
Example
- A customer sends 50 USD, and at that moment it equals 916 MXN.
- During the purchase, they’ll see both amounts: 50 USD and 916 MXN.
- When the receiver claims or spends the credit (whether immediately or a few days later), the 50 USD remains the same, but the MXN amount may have increased or decreased depending on the exchange rate at that time.
